Apex Legend's Upheaval will introduce a brand new Legend to the roster: Switch. A Void Breacher who traveled inter-dimensionally, she lived the lives of personalities that fans can relate to (more on that soon).
While EA is yet to give the exact active and passive abilities of this new Legend, there is a lot to her backstory that already adds to the game's lore. In addition, this may be the first time the game pushes its limits with the concept of a full-fledged multiverse.

Alter's real name is YingLing Lui. At her core, she is a Void Breacher. Like Wraith, she has the ability to traverse across dimensions, having a new sense of reality each time she does so. Her Void technique allows her to keep track of those memories, using it against those she despises.
Alter's sense of morality is often ambiguous, as she barely keeps track of how things unfold after she's left a dimension. This will lead to an interesting turn of events considering how Legends like Horizon and Wraith already have their share of problems across different timelines and dimensions.
Although it has not been revealed how she interacts with other characters in the game, it is very likely that Bloodhound and other older Legends will have something to do with her. After all, the trailer for the new season shows something similar.
How will Alter change the Apex Games?
The Apex Games are home to some of the bluntest and most annoying personalities in the Respawn universe. Every Legend has a purpose to serve, Alter is no different. It is still unknown why she is here, but one thing is clear: she does not care much about consequences. This can prove deadly in the arena.
The Apex Games have mixed different maps throughout the seasons, including new maps like Broken Moon in its rotation. Chaos, like other seasons, will introduce new aspects to the game, including certain map changes that players can expect to see in the official cinematics and patch notes. Alter's reckless and chaotic personality is bound to run rampant, affecting a change in the power structure of the Apex games.
The new season's in-game cartoons and gameplay trailers will likely reveal more about her purpose in the Apex Games. Until then, fans can compare her presence to Wraith's, building fan theories about what we can expect.
