Best ways to farm EXP in Solo Leveling ARISE

As you go through the episode list to complete various quests in the story, you will soon reach a point where you want to start farming EXP to level up Sung Jinwoo and the Hunters in his team. All the other Hunters you've unlocked can't be leveled up past Jinwoo's current level, so let's figure out the best ways to farm EXP in Solo Leveling ARISE.

5 Great ways to farm EXP in Solo Leveling Arise

Solo Leveling Arise is the latest gacha-style RPG game to come to PC and mobile. Released on May 8, 2024, the game is based on the 2016 South Korean web novel Solo Leveling. A quick hint about the mechanics of the game is the alternative translation of the manwha: 'Only I Level Up.'

You play as Sung Jinwoo, who was called “The Weakest Hunter of all Mankind” by his fellow hunters. But this changes, and you get the chance to grow with Jinwoo as he discovers his inner strength. Unlike other gacha RPG games, such as the hugely popular Genshin Impact, you won't need to suffer leveling of all the Hunters on your team during gameplay. Instead, you can focus your EXP farming on Jinwoo and the rest of his companions simply fall into place as he gets stronger.

5. Play the story

This might seem like one of the most obvious things, but if you want to level up, you have to play through the episode list that the game offers you. Once you're done with the intros, you can even go back and replay episodes to try and get better scores than you did the first time.

You won't earn much EXP during the beginning of the story, but the amount increases as you continue to play.

4. Complete side chapters

Alongside the main story quests, you'll be able to find “side chapters” that you can complete for extra EXP. These side chapters can only be completed while playing as the Hunter that the side chapter is about, so you may not have much of a chance to complete these in the early stages of your game.

Keep unlocking more Hunters, and you'll be able to play other side chapters to boost your EXP.

3. Open the Gates

New players will be introduced to Gates during the lengthy tutorial that Solo Leveling ARISE offers to its players. The first time you play a Gate, Hwang Eunju will tell you that they are dangerous but that you can get a lot of resources from them.

There are a few different Gates you will encounter while playing Solo Leveling ARISE:

  • Standard Gates: These can be played with Jinwoo or any other Hunter on your team.
  • Dungeons: These can only be played using Jinwoo or having him on your team.
  • Red Gates: Unlocked after Chapter 7 is cleared, known as the hardest Gates to defeat.
  • Bonus Gates: Appear randomly, occasionally check the map to find these.
  • Special Gates: Have special requirements to be able to complete them, so be sure to check those before you enter or you will fail.

The completion of each Gate will reward you with various items and EXP. You can raise or lower the difficulty of Gates as you continue to level up Jinwoo. Also remember to send off teams mining when you continue with other tasks. It's not a lot of EXP, but it's a lot of gold!

2. Active Funds

Active Funds are a great way to earn some EXP without doing anything. They work on a level system that increases as Jinwoo levels up, meaning you'll be able to get more free EXP and items for absolutely nothing but playing the game.

As well as EXP, your Active Funds will give you Gold and Upgrade items. These will help you in your quest to make Jinwoo a stronger Hunter so he can get rid of his old nickname. Don't bother collecting your rewards continuously, you can collect the accumulation of them every 24 hours to save time.

1. Power of Destructive Mode

It goes without saying that you should fight all you can in this game. The combat system is quite intuitive, especially if you are playing on PC and not limited by only touch screen to fight. All the special attack keys are within easy reach, and you don't need to waste time actively running through dungeons or Gates because the game has an automatic function.

But the best combat feature for EXP is Power of Destruction Mode. PoD mode activates later in the game — after clearing Chapter 14. Together with your group of chosen Hunters, you can pit your skills against Pitch-black Flame Ennio! PoD mode records the total time you survived the battle and the total damage dealt during the allotted time.
