CoD community votes on the most wanted sequel and the results might surprise you

Call of Duty has a storied history with games spanning decades and tackling all sorts of different timelines. One fan wanted to hear the community’s thoughts on their most desired continuation of the franchise’s long tenure; the results may surprise you.

Reddit user Allan_Breno jumped on the Call of Duty subreddit to ask other fans which of the listed games they would like to see get a sequel. The list included Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, Infinite Warfare, Black Ops 3, World War II, and Modern Warfare 3 (2011).

Counting the votes has Call of Duty Ghosts winning by a large margin, with Infinite Warfare taking second place, narrowly beating Advanced Warfare in third. This little poll was a surprising eye-opener; each of the medalists were previously unpopular Call of Duty games that were criticized and condemned by the majority of fans. But like a fine wine, age has definitely helped players appreciate these games for what they are: great FPS games with some of the best campaigns in the series.

Call of Duty Ghosts being the most wanted sequel in this list of games is only surprising for one reason: it is more requested than Infinite Warfare. I enjoyed Ghosts and while it wasn’t perfect and had its fair share of plot holes, it condensed the action man story of Call of Duty into a character driven story that was refreshing to see.

Infinite Warfare was one of the most hated games at launch reaching over 3 million dislikes and became the second most disliked video on YouTube in 2016. Despite the backlash from players, many gave the game a chance, discovering an over the top campaign that shouldn’t have been . slept more I personally adore Infinite Warfare and its character driven story and many more should give this diamond in the rough another chance.

User TGB_Skeletor has a great take: “Infinite Warfare should be its own IP.” If Activision had committed to that approach, it might have ushered in a whole new line of FPS games that rival Call of Duty in an alternate timeline.

While Advanced Warfare wasn’t at the top of my list of best campaigns, its take on mobility and exosuits in Multiplayer and Zombies was a nice idea that just didn’t stick the landing. Since AW had the giant boots to fill from its predecessors, it’s no wonder it wasn’t well received by fans. Suddenly, we went from Captain Price and Yuri with boots on the ground, to jumping around in exo suits and wall running. The shock to the system for Call of Duty players is perhaps what soured the taste of this game, but now that we’ve all gotten very old, players are wondering if the games were that bad.

Maybe it’s time for Activision to look at the futuristic shooter genre and learn from their previous mistakes.

That’s what we have in this little community vote.
