CoD fans demonstrate the terrible problem with the RGL-80 in Hardcore

Anyone who’s spent five minutes in the Hardcore playlist in Modern Warfare 3 will either have fallen victim to RGL-80s’ destructive payload or heard someone complain about it. However, a section of the player base didn’t witness the RGL-80 in action, so fans came together to prove just how ridiculous the weapon can be in Hardcore.

Reddit user DrakonRax posted a video they created to show just how devastating the RGL-80 can be. The video showed DrakonRax and their teammates all equip their grenade launchers and immediately after the round started they pelted the opposing team with an explosive payload until the round ended.

The video highlights a real problem with the Hardcore game mode and even more shows a lack of commitment from Activision itself. The RGL-80 issue has been alive for too long and needed immediate intervention from Activision; however, the devs were silent for the longest time.

User FuzzyHotel6180 jumped into the conversation to air his relief at the upcoming nerf, saying, “So glad this b****** is getting nerfed on Wednesday. So many cornballs are going to watch their CDs drop.” Wednesday the 29th is the release of Warzone and MW3 Season 4, where Activision has promised to make adjustments to the RGL-80 specifically for Hardcore.

Even those who haven’t experienced this launcher on Hardcore have probably fallen victim to it on core small maps like Shipping or Rust. While the RGL doesn’t have the same stopping power in Core modes, its screen shaking and general disorientation is incredibly annoying.

Comments in the thread agree with my take. My favorite is “I’d say on the core the damage is meh but the screen shaking is really absurd.”

Surprisingly, some players, while agreeing that it was too strong, will miss the RGL-80 spam and find the whole ordeal amusing. User Previous_Lab_3338 jumped into the thread, saying, “This clip is going to be a gem when it gets nerfed into hardcore. Good riddance, but God it was funny lol.”

All in all, we just have to wait for the release of Season 4 to hopefully say goodbye to this destructive weapon. However, this is Activision we’re talking about. They’ve made some questionable and other truly terrible choices over the years, but only time will tell.

That’s what we have on the RGL-80 and its impact on Hardcore.
