Darkest Dungeon 2 is also coming to Switch
The biggest change in Darkest Dungeon 2 was your ability to travel the world instead of being stuck in the village. Now you can switch to dungeon adventures on the go, as DD2 is coming to Nintendo Switch on July 15, 2024.
Darkest Dungeon 2 was announced during the Nintendo Direct event, where we had a chance to see what this dark world looks like on Switch. While the visuals look great, I’m more interested in how commands will work, especially inventory management. I tried playing Darkest Dungeon on Steam Deck, and it was a pain. However, from what we’ve seen there’s no reason to worry, as the Switch port seems to be all done.
As you can see in the picture above, you will quickly get used to commands because you will always know which button to press. Going through menus is intuitive, while combat is smooth, as expected, because you’ll always have time to think before you act. Darkest Dungeon 2 is really an ideal game for portable consoles, because it’s easy to get used to playing on the move (or lying in bed).
It is not yet known how much the Nintendo version differs from the original. We already have several quality updates for PC, including The Binding Blade DLC, which introduced the new Duelist class and a favorite Crusader. I’m especially looking forward to the Kingdoms mode, which will be available for free, at least on PC. Let’s hope that the Darkest Dungeon 2 Switch version will get all the existing content so that we can enjoy creating the best team compositions and saving the world again.
