Fisch How to Get Mythic Driftwood
Mythical Driftwood in Fisch is one of the more difficult materials to obtain, but if you aim to create the Precision Wand or the Wand of Wisdomyou will need it. With Driftwood classified as Junk, catching its mythic variant can feel like trying to reel in the moon. But don’t worry, this guide covers everything you need to know, from the best spots to foolproof strategies.
Mythical Driftwood Location & Driftwood Stats
Driftwood is a Rubbish-category material that can be found throughout Fisch. It’s a slow, low-rarity item that has often been ignored in the game as just another item to sell. However, with update 1.08.0 (which brought the Ancient Island to Fisch’s map), Driftwood finally got an in-game use: crafting fishing rods.
Driftwood Overview | Details |
---|---|
Category | Trash can |
A rarity | Low |
Mutation | Mythical Driftwood |
weight | 0.6 kg (always) |
XP Earned by Capture | 30 XP |
Preferred Bait | A magnet |
Places | All (better odds at Moosewood) |
Driftwood’s classification as Trash is both its blessing and its curse. While Driftwood itself is easy to find, its mutated versions are a rare occurrence. Because capturing Mythical Driftwood requires a Mythical Wandwhich is built for mid- to late-game fishing, the match between the rod and the object is a mismatch. Ironically, this stick’s high stats make it less ideal for catching Junk like Driftwood.
Driftwood is also preferred Magnets as bait, which are lucky lure (+200 luck). However, catching a mutated version relies on RNG (random number generation), making the process long and unpredictable. While Driftwood is technically available anywhere, I found that Moosewood has proven to be the most reliable place to find it – especially in Crab Cages.
How to Catch Mythical Driftwood
There are three methods of obtaining Mythical Driftwood in Fisch:
Crab Cages at Moosewood
Moosewood is the best place in Fisch to catch Driftwood, especially if you’re aiming for mutated versions. Crab Cageswhich are reusable traps, are the most reliable way to collect Driftwood, including its Mythic mutation. You can buy them for C$45 each, next to the Merchant’s booth on Moosewood.
Recommended Configuration | Details |
---|---|
Location | Moosewood (Pond and Dockside). |
Cage Placement | Moosewood Pond, right dock, or behind the NPC Pierre. |
Frequency | Check cages every 5-10 minutes. |
When to Use | Use during Mutation Increases for better odds. |
You will likely pull up standard Driftwood along with Mythical Driftwood and other mutated types like Luna or Frozen Driftwood. Crab Cages are cost effective and provide consistent results.
Fishing for Mythical Driftwood
If you’re determined to fish for Mythical Driftwood, here’s what you need:
Fishing Requirements | Details |
---|---|
wand | Mythical Wand. |
Bait | A magnet. |
fishing | Moosewood Pond or Dock. |
timing | During Mutation Increases for higher mutation rates. |
Fishing for Mythical Driftwood is extremely time consuming, so patience is important. However, this method is more useful if you do it while your Crab Cages are doing their magic. It’s better than standing around doing nothing – if you’re forced out of the game because of it inactivity (which happens after 20 minutes), you will lose any Crab Cages you have placed.
Evaluating Driftwood
If you have an excess of standard Driftwood, consider using the Appraiser NPC on Moosewood to turn your regular Driftwood into a mutated version. This method is expensive – each assessment costs C$450 – but it guarantees progress. This method is less ideal for early game players (below level 30) due to the steep cost.
Information | Details |
---|---|
Place of assessment | Moosewood (left of Merchant NPC). |
Cost per Appraisal | 450 C$. |
Recommended For | Mid-to-late-game players with plenty of funds. |
There is a rumor circulating that Rubbish bait can help capture Mythical Driftwood. After extensive testing, I can confirm this is false. Junk bait offers no advantage and decreases bait speed, making your fishing attempts even more tedious. Stick to Magnets for this task!

Mythic Driftwood is used in crafting rods that unlock more fishing opportunities. The first two craft recipes below includes Mythical Driftwood, along with the requirements. Below that, I’ve included recipes that call for the other mutated Driftwood versions.
