How to become Hellmarked in Diablo 4 Season 4

In Diablo 4 Season 4, being Hellmarked is actually a blessing in disguise rather than the curse the name implies. If you’re looking to get a bounty on your head for Hell’s greatest evils, here’s how you can.

What is Hellmarked in Diablo 4?

You may be wondering why I called being Hellmarked a blessing. Well, if you’re strong enough, being Hellmarked means considerably more Hellspawn for you to slaughter. Killing Hellspawn in Helltide means you earn Aberrent Cinders much faster, which can be used to open Tortured Gifts for some valuable rewards. It also means you earn Helltide resources faster. Bosses and Elites will appear much more often, giving you more opportunities to earn powerful loot.

How to earn Hellmark in Diablo 4 Season 4

To get yourself Hellmarked, you must first make your way to any active Helltide in Sanctuary. In Season 4, Helltides appear the same way they always have (a big red outline on your map), so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding one on your map. Once you’re inside Helltide, slaughter the forces of Hell with such wanton destruction that they begin to fear you. Do enough hellspawn murder, and you’ll see a red bar top right of your screen starts to fill up.

This bar represents how many kills you have to make to earn the Hellmarked status. Once it’s filled, you’ll get a damning message that you’re Hellmarked. It will take some time to fill the bar, but you will also know you are marked when you have a bright red aura.

When you are Hellmarked, Hell itself will begin to pile up on your position. Devils of all shapes and sizes will arrive to take your head. Numerous bosses, countless fodder will appear, and even the chance that a Treasure Gobin will appear to try to capture you at some point while you’re Hellmarked.

How to survive being Hellmarked

No matter what class you play in Diablo 4, all of them have defensive skills that dramatically improve survivability. When Hellmarked, your biggest threat is the sheer number of Hellspawn that come after you, not the bosses. It’s easy to be completely down when Hellmarked, so me highly recommend you use defensive tools of your class.

For example, on my Wizard, I actively use Fire Shield for the invulnerability in case things get crazy. I also stack Cooldown Reduction where I can get it, allowing me more chances to cast my defensive. I also use my Warlock’s excellent mobility with Teleport to keep enemies at arm’s length at all times.
