How to get Cinder in Hades 2
In Hades 2, you can get various reagents that you can spend to get new weapons or to craft items. One of these reagents is an object called Cinder, and it is necessary to obtain the weapons of Umbral Flames.
Since Hades 2 is currently in Early Access, the location I found to get Cinder could change before the game's full release. I will update this post if the information here changes, or if I find more Cinder locations to share with you.
Where to find Cinder in Hades 2
So far, the only place I've found Ash is as a reward for defeating Hecate, the Guardian of Erebus. Hecate is also the Goddess of Witchcraft and is a common figure in Greek myth. In Hades 2, she is Melinoë's mentor, but you will still have to take her on as a boss to prove your skills. Every time you defeat Hecate, which is the first boss in each round of the roguelite cycle, you get one Cinder.
What do you need Cinders for in Hades 2?
Ash is a reagent described as “Mostly used with spells involving fire and preservation”, and you'll need them to unlock some hot items. To unlock the Umbral Flames weapon, you will need three Cinder and three Silver. Since Hecate only drops one Ash each run if you defeat her, you will have to take her down three different times to get this weapon. I also found an Arcane card that required one Ash, so it's safe to say you'll need a handful of these fiery reagents to unlock everything that requires this unique, boss-only item.
