You will need recruit master chef Caulie come and live in the village to get your fishing rod. You will find Caulie in the southwest of the map in the Valley of Flowers. Just follow the path into the small settlement in the corner by the lake.
You must defeat level 1 Demon, Terrigaze, to save her. It will appear when you enter the village and has about 1k HP but as long as you have a full team of good yaolings it’s a relatively simple fight. After you’ve killed Terrigaze, Master Chef Caulie will reward you with the Fish Rod. It does not appear in your inventorybut you can now use fishing spots.

Fishing grounds can be found all over the map and always look the same, being represented by a large one blue fish hanging from a fish rack (See above). In my experience, the location of the fishing spot does not affect what you can catch. However, using different bait will attract different fish and other rewards.
Bait can be purchased from traders in any village, where the bait sold is representative of the level of mafias in the area. Once Chu-Chu settled in the village, you can buy random bait from her. The different types of fishing bait are:
- Grass Bait: Attracts Yaolings of levels 5-10.
- Egg Bait: Attracts Yaolings of levels 11-15.
- Tofu Bait: Attracts Yaolings of levels 15-20.
- Sweet ‘n’ Sour Bait: Attracts Yaolings of levels 21-24.
- Core Lure: Attracts Yaolings of levels 25-30.
- Marinating Bait: Attracts Yaolings of levels 31-40.
- Pine Lure: Attracts Yaolings of levels 41-50.
- Wheat Bud Bait: Attracts Yaolings of levels 31-40.
How to fish in Yaoling Mythical Journey

When you reach a fishing post marker, you will be given the option to fish. Select your bait, and then click “fish”. You will see two circles (light blue and yellow) with gauge to the left side. The trick is repeatedly click the left mouse button (make sure you are outside the circle area) to expand the circle so that it overlaps the other one that moves randomly. When they are aligned, there will be a visible glow and the gauge will start to fill up (see above), but it will drop when you are not aligned (see below). If you fill up the meter, you will usually get a random reward.

The reward will usually be resources or yaoling. Resources will be added to your inventory, while yaoling will trigger a standard battle. This is the easiest way to catch certain yaolings such as Bubber and Gurglio.
