How to Get Fusion Energy Cells and Use Fusion Reactors in The Planet Crafter

Fusion Energy Cells and Fusion Reactors have confused many players because their value is not immediately apparent in the game. In this guide, I will show you how to get Fusion Energy Cells and how to use Fusion Reactors in The Planet Crafter.

Where to find Fusion Energy Cells and how to use Fusion Reactors in The Planet Crafter

During my time playing The Planet Crafter, I managed to find two Fusion Reactors at these coordinates:

  • At coordinates 1100:26:637 within the Starting Plains Derelict
  • At coordinates 1572:83:601 in the Ring Wreck Desert Wasteland

In The Planet Craftsman, Fusion Reactors are unique structures found inside crashed ships. These reactors are key to unlocking sealed doors inside the ships, although they do not provide power to your base. Discovering and activating these reactors will give you some sweet, valuable loot locked away in these abandoned vessels, meaning they still have some value and are, at least in my opinion, an adventure worth undertaking.

Activate Fusion Reactors using Fusion Energy Cells in The Planet Crafter

To activate a Fusion Reactor, you will need a Fusion Energy Cell. Inserting this cell into the reactor vessel will unlock doors on the same ship, giving access to areas that were previously inaccessible. After collecting the loot, you can take the Fusion Power Cell from the reactor for repeated use, which is practical.

When you place the Fusion Power Cell into a reactor, you will hear a hissing sound. Just retrace your steps to the previous room you entered from and you should be able to see doors that were previously locked now open. However, you may have to demolish some of the debris blocking the way.

Where to get Fusion Energy Cells in The Planet Crafter

Fusion Energy Cells are necessary for operating Fusion Reactors. They can be crafted once you've reached a Terraformation rating of 578.58 GTi, marking them as one of the game's endgame unlocks. These cells are not consumed after use and can be taken after unlocking the necessary areas, which is good because it requires some really valuable resources. Here is the recipe for creating them:

  • 3 Pulse Quartz
  • 2 Osmium
  • 1 Superalloy

While these cells do not currently select any machines or buildings directly, their role in activating Fusion Reactors opens up new research opportunities, offering you loot opportunities. What you get from chests is, unfortunately, random, so keep that in mind when you go for the unlocks.
