How to unlock banners (Signal Searches) in Zenless Zone Zero

As a new Zenless Zone Zero player, you might be trying to locate the banners for the game. In ZZZ, banners are called “Signal Searches” and there are three distinct types that use two in-game items so you can pull Agents (companions) or W-Engines (weapons).

How to unlock Signal Quests in Zenless Zone Zero

Signal searches are not available from the start of the game – in fact, the feature is completely locked until you reach a certain point.

To unlock Signal Quests in Zenless Zone Zero, you will need to complete the intro to the game where you rescue Anby and Billy from the Hollow, and then go through the motions of intro to the Inter-Knot.

On the Inter node, you will find your first commission; which is a mission you can take to gain EXP and other items in Zenless Zone Zero. The commission is for General Chop, who runs the noodle shop. You will also get a commission for Suzie from the Gadget shop.

Go and see General Chop first to get the information about his work, and then leave to see Suzie.

You will learn that Suzie’s boss, who owns the Gadget Store, runs an underground service called W-Engine. W engines are weapons in Zenless Zone Zero, but they just look like round hardware toys. Suzie is unaware of her boss’ dealings, and happily offers you a free W Engine for the work your Proxy will give to Anby.

When you’re done talking, you’ll be prompted to go back to your brother/sister and talk to them about the commissions.

As soon as that conversation happens, you’ll get a notification that Signal Quests have been unlocked, and the game will walk you through a quick tutorial on what they are and how they work.

One of the main ways to get more Encrypted Master Tape and Master Tape is by completing commissions in Zenless Zone Zero. You can find some commissions on the Inter-Knot, while others can walk through your door and come straight to you – much like Nicole does during the game’s intro.

Another way to get Encrypted Master Tape and Master Tape is to complete various in-game events and get rewards for them. In addition to the pre-registration rewards, there are eight other events happening in July 2024 for Zenless Zone Zero players. They can all be found in our rewards pre-registration guide.

Some Zenless Zone Zero Codes may also have both types of Tape.

Alternatively, you can convert Polychrome to Tape or use the swap shop to get more Tape. Polychrome appears as a reward in many places, including commission rewards.
