Major changes are coming to Roblox on August 7th and fans are worried
The creators of Roblox have planned significant changes for their popular gaming platform that will go live on August 7, 2024. However, it seems that not everyone is thrilled with these changes and have raised concerns about the same on several social media platforms.
First of all, Roblox recently stated that they will change their Privacy Policy, which would allow the company to buy, share and process user information for advertisements. Simply put, Roblox can use game data for advertising purposes, which has raised many concerns among the platform’s community.
The company informed the users about this change on July 1, 2024, but the officials recently stated that they will finally enforce this new Privacy Policy from 7 August 2024. Roblox has stated that they follow all the rules and allow users to manage their data. However, as mentioned earlier, some people do not agree with it, especially parents who think it will allow advertisers to target their children and exploit them.
However, it should be noted that this update only affects users who are 13 years and over. This implies that the platform cannot sell information of users who are under 13 years of age.
In addition to the new Privacy Policy, Roblox introduces Datastores V2. This is a new tool for game creators to manage data. The best part is that Data Stores V2 introduces automatic backups—every time an object is updated, a backup of all objects is created for you.
Last but not least, another Roblox event called Inspire 2024 is scheduled to launch on August 7, 2024. It is a virtual gathering for creators to connect, learn and inspire each other. The event also has several challenges for participants, allowing them to earn free cosmetics, including the Space Cowboy Hat and the Jacket of Inspiration, after completing the tasks.
