Phasmophobia developer drops plushies as fans beg for new content, console release

Fans of the popular horror game Phasmophobia have long been waiting for its release on consoles. Despite the few unexpected setbacks, incl fire at the developer’s studio, players are increasingly frustrated by the lack of information and updates about the console release. Rightly so, because they have been anticipating it for more than a year.

Kinetic Games recently announced the release of a Phasmophobia-themed Voodoo Doll in partnership with Makeship, which sparked a mixed reaction among the fans. On the one hand, we have fans who appreciate and understand that the creation of goods requires little effort and resources, but others simply want new things or the promised port.

One Reddit user with the above comment indicated that, “Most likely 1 or 2 people from the team sat down for a few hours to discuss the collaboration with the felicists.” In response, a developer confirmed that it takes even less than that (about an hour to send the screenshots and approve the design).

Meanwhile, one fan expressed frustrations, commenting in response to the announcement, “Also add the console release to that.” Another echoed the sentiment with, “GTA 6 will be out first at this rate.”

While it’s true porting takes time, and a studio fire has certainly slowed progress, it’s getting to be a bit much even for die-hard fans, and then there’s the false hopes. Another fan summed up the situation, saying, “I’m totally fine with the time they’re taking for the updates. BUT stop insinuating/teasing the update as something that’s coming soon while it’s taking ages.”

In another reddit post, fans asked the developers about the console release and updates. One replied, “We’re working on it; we can’t give any dates, but we have a lot of time invested in console, and it will come out. Just bear with us. News about Point Hope etc very soon. Thanks. .” Fans have heard this before, so the mood is tired.

It’s been over a year since the console release was hinted at, and it doesn’t seem to be coming anytime soon. Not only that, but the new map, map redesigns, horror 2.0, leveling rework, and other updates that players have been waiting for are still a work in progress with no mentions or updates. At least, Kinetic Games could communicate the progress of their work or be more specific instead of repeating “very soon”.
