GRAFT is an upcoming indie game from the creators of Shadowrun, which is good enough for me. But after seeing the trailers, I’m even more convinced that this horror-cyberpunk-RPG mashup will be awesome if developers play their cards right.
While GRAFT’s release date is unknown, we do know more about the game’s story. Your world, the Arc, is dying, and your main goal is survival. To succeed, you’ll need to evolve using Grafts, body augmentations that change your body and mind, which sound similar to Cyberdecks in Cyberpunk 2077. Basically, you’ll be constantly evolving your hero by implementing new abilities. How exactly this works is still unclear.
Interestingly, the game is very similar to Shadowrun visually, including an isometric view. Cyberpunk is also the main theme, although the action reminded me of twin stick shooters. Unexpectedly, the eerie atmosphere resembles Limbo and perhaps even more Inside. The tense atmosphere with monsters jumping out of the dark reminded me of the Aliens a franchise that makes me excited to play GRAFT.
Since there is still not enough information about the game, we can only speculate about the game mechanics, RPG elements and especially gameplay outside of combat zones. Developer Harebrained has promised a “dark RPG experience” and “tight survival horror combat,” which sounds great on paper. Now we just need to wait a little bit.
