Soulmask Crafting Guide – Professional Game Guides

Soulmask can be a little overwhelming at first glance, especially for anyone unfamiliar with survival games like this or something like Conan: Exiles. Don’t worry though—here, I’ll walk you through some of those really early steps to get you started in the right direction.

So, right off the bat, you’ll be greeted by some pretty bland UI layouts and lots of instructions on what to do. Fortunately, it’s really not as complicated as it first seems, so let’s break down some of the key elements you’ll need to understand to get started right.

First and foremost, you’ll need to collect some resources. In the beginning, there are only three things you need to worry about, as these will allow you to create your starter kit. You want to look for the following which are indicated and labeled in the image below.

  • 1A – Rocks
  • 1B – Branches
  • 1C – Plants

To collect these, all you will have to do is look at them and then hit ‘E’ to interact. Rocks and branches are self-explanatory, and plants will give you thatch and vines. Take your time to collect loads of these before proceeding, as you will always need them, and it will save you some headache later.

Inventory, Creation and Knowledge

Accessing your inventory it’s as simple as hitting ‘Tab’, and here you can see everything you’ve captured, some of your crafting recipes, and your hotbar layout. Assuming you’ve gathered plenty of resources, you’ll be prompted to learn how to do create a campfire. If you try to make one from your inventory, you will notice that you cannot do so. Instead, you’ll have to hit ‘T’ to access the knowledge screen

What you want to do is select ‘Bandfire’ which is on the top left, which will then appear in that panel on the right side. Once you’ve chosen it, you’ll want to click and hold to the campfire entry on the right panel to unlock it as a crafting recipe.

Once you’ve done that, you can go back to your inventory and create the campfire using some of the materials you collected earlier. To create an item, select the recipe you want to create from the right side of your inventory screen and double-left-click to add the building to your queue. You can line up three items at once, and they usually take a few seconds to whip up.

Your campfire will need some fuel, obviously, and it only takes about five minutes to start. So, interact with the campfire after you put it down to be introduced to station creation. The campfire menu lets you cook things as you might expect, so any nice juicy bugs you’ve caught will be enough for a workout.

To give it some fuel, you’ll want to supply it with some straw from your inventory. A practical tip here is to use the ‘split’ function, which will allow you to divide your stack of straw into two quantities, which saves you putting. everyone your straw in the fire and going out to gather more.

To split a stack, simply hover over the item you want to split and right-click once to bring up the context menu, then select split. This will then prompt you to select the amount of items you would like to split from the stack, so adjust accordingly. Then you can give your fire some extra fuel and keep cooking those Locusts.

While this might seem like simple stuff, it’s easy to get hooked early on for those who aren’t fired up by the survival genre, so hopefully, these general creative and savvy tips will help you along.
