The First Descendant devs continue to ban almost 1400 players after being removed for cheating
It’s not uncommon for devs to have to deal with players trying to cheat the system in their games. From the use of aimbots to illegally downloading items into the game. For Nexon, the developers behind The First Descendant, ridding their game of scammers and cheaters has been a priority lately.
Fans of The First Descendant have already been particularly impressed with post-launch support, thanks to the consistent updates of the Steam Community news page from the devs, as well as updates on their own website.
Since the release of The First Descendant on June 30, 2024, there have been six different fixes, all addressing issues in the game and re-optimizing gameplay for users. Hotfix 1.0.6, which went live on August 2, 2024, was a patch that addressed a number of issues – including a UI screen bug, the infinite activation of Valby’s “Clean” ability, and added more monsters to the “Fortress Outskirts” mission in White-night Gulch. These are just some of the bugs and player issues that have been fixed in time by the team at Nexon.
A little earlier on August 2, 2024, Nexon published a post on Steam and on their official website about the “purge against abusive users” that was implemented between July 26 and August 1, 2024.
Players who were removed during that time were divided into two categories:
- The creation, distribution or use of unauthorized programs.
- The exploitation of all processes related to the Open Store.
Either offense was awarded a permanent game ban. For the creation, distribution or use of unauthorized programs, 439 players were forbidden. For the exploitation of all processes related to the Open Store, 954 players were forbidden. That’s all 1393 players banned of the game.
Nexon noted that the result of the crackdown on abusive users included actions taken based on player reports and monitoring. So, if you play TFD, keep up the good work.
