Magick Archer Overview
The Magic Archer, as the name suggests, fills their bow and arrow with Ice, Lightning, and Fire. Let’s go over the Magick Archer’s basic default abilities:
Capable Name | Description and Mechanics |
Rapid fire | Quickfire is the archer equivalent of Loose. It allows your character to quickly fire an arrow without having to aim at the enemy. It has auto-lock, but the trade-off is much lower damage. Uses: close combat encounters |
Dash | Dash is the Magick Archer’s basic running ability. Pressing the Quickfire button while running will allow your Magick Archer to jump a short distance and shoot an arrow at the nearest enemy. |
Conversion | Conversion allows you to change your primary shooting method. There are two shooting methods: Rivet Shot and Pinpoint Volley. |
Pinpoint Volley | This skill gives you a large reticle when you hold your R1/RB button. It then locks to multiple parts of an enemy; the longer you keep the reticle on the enemy, the more arrows. Uses: Large enemy group encounters |
Rivet Shot | This skill is similar to the Pinpoint Volley, although it gives a much smaller reticle, allowing you to precisely lock onto certain enemy parts. Uses: Boss encounters specific weak parts. |
Martyr’s Bolt (Ultimate/Master Skill) | Use your Max HP to summon a powerful attack that sends arrows at an enemy, dealing massive damage over time. Martyr’s Bolt is heavily overpowered but has limited use. Uses: Difficult bosses like Drakes. |
The Pinpoint Volley, Conversion, and Rivet Shot will be your bread and butter for this class. Using the right shooting mode in a specific situation will greatly improve your damage output. Also, don’t forget keep the reticle on the enemy so you can shoot even more arrows for more DPS.
Best Magick Archer Elemental Skills
The Magick Archer has access to all elemental affinities which include Ice, Lightning and Fire. This allows them to inflict Debilitation on their enemies such as Frostbite, Unconscious and Caught on Fire. Here are all the Elemental Skills of the Magick Archer:
Capable Name | Description and Mechanics |
Frostseeker Bolt -> Frosthunter Bolt | The Magic Archer will launch a set of tracking and sustaining ice arrows that will hit the selected part of the enemy. This is the best way to build Frostbite because it is very consistent in dealing ice damage to the enemy. Uses: Frostbite Inflict on bosses |
Hail Bolt -> Arctic Bolt | Releases an entire block of ice like an arrow at an enemy. While not as good as inflicting Frostbite, it’s a consistent way to unbalance bosses or stop powerful attacks. Uses: Dropping bosses or stopping powerful attacks |
Ricochet Seeker -> Ricochet Hunter | One of Magick Archer’s most iconic abilities is their patented Ricochet Hunter. Your character shoots a lightning bolt that bounces off walls and hits any enemy that gets in its way. Uses: Closed/Indoor Areas |
Sparkchain Stake -> Boltchain Stake | The Magic Archer will shoot lightning at enemies within his reticle. Each Boltchain Stake applied proc when near each other, causing constant damage. I found this ability really helpful when dealing with enemies near a body of water (Drenched Debilitation). Uses: Human Control |
Radiant Orb -> Glowing Orb | After you use this ability, your character will fly a fireball. This orb can stick to enemies and walls. Any enemy that passes through the orb will take constant fire damage. It also works as a light source at night or in very dark places (ie caves, ruins, etc.) Uses: Constant fire DPS and lighting during night time |

Tips, Tricks and Build recommendation for the Magick Archer
The Magic Archer, as scary as the abilities may sound, is a fairly easy class to play once you understand how its mechanics work. Here are three essential tips and tricks for the Magick Archer:
- Always assess the situation. Stuck in a close combat scenario? Use the Dash+Quickfire technique In a boss fight? Use Conversion to transform your shooting mode to Rivet Shot and release your arrows on the enemy’s weak points. A standard open area battle against a horde of enemies? Use the Pinpoint Volley shooting mode.
- Use your environment. As mentioned above, elementary skills is Magick Archer’s bread and butter. This means that the Summoning can cause status effects on enemies, so be sure to take advantage of Debilitates such as Soaked and Tarred to make your attacks more powerful.
- Improve your Magick stat instead of Strength. Some people might get the wrong concept of boosting their strength stat, rather than Magick. If it wasn’t obvious enough, you need more Magick stats deal more damage with this Invocation. If you still don’t know how you can improve magic instead of strength of your weapons, go to the Holy Treeget a Pawn that has Woodland Wordsmith and upgrade your weapons Grisha.
