Vincent Valentine is finally playable after nearly two decades, and it’s not in FF7 Remake

Final Fantasy fans can rejoice, as Vincent Valentine is finally playable in the Final Fantasy franchise after nearly two decades. The beloved character returns in Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis in a new chapter as announced by Square Enix.

For those out of the loop, Vincent Valentine is one of the most well-known characters in the Final Fantasy series, first making his appearance in the original Final Fantasy 7 back in 1997, as an optional party member. He was the main protagonist of the 2006 shooter Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7 (and its mobile tie-in). This was the first and only time fans got to play as the iconic character. But it wasn’t his last appearance in the series as he appeared in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (initially as a boss). Now Square Enix has announced that he will finally return as a playable character in Ever Crisis in Chapter 7 of the game, to be released in July.

This is definitely big news in the Final Fantasy community as Vincent Valentine has become a beloved character in the series. His iconic red coat outfit as well as his unique abilities are just some of the reasons fans of the series have fallen in love with him. In Ever Crisis, Vincent will look more like his character in Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children according to Tetsuya Nomura. Since Ever Crisis is based on the various FF7 titles, it is likely that we will witness the events of Dirge of Cerberus with a new and improved paint job.

Alongside Vincent Valnetine’s announcement, Ever Crisis will have a collaboration with Capcom’s Monster Hunter series. This collaboration launches on May 30th and will feature new outfits for Cloud, Tifa, Aerith and others.
