Since V Rising is centered around playing as a vampire, blood will matter a lot as the only form of sustenance available. If you want to become an all-powerful ruler overnight, you're going to have to do a lot of Feeding, so how exactly does it work?
What does Nutrition mean in V Rising?
Eating in V Rising means you will be consuming the blood of an enemy for your own nourishment. You know, because you're a vampire? But what's important here is what you get for drinking all that blood: eating an enemy in V Rising directly will be. refill the Blood Pool and change your character's Blood Type. What is a Blood Pool? Do I have a Blood Type? Don't worry, I will answer all these questions and more in detail.
How the Blood Pool works in V Rising
to start, Nutrition is a mechanic that connects directly in the Blood Pool. Each player has a Blood Pool, which almost always drains away over time and drains faster during moments of combat. In V Rise, leaving your Blood Gauge running empty will deplete your health over time until it hits zero. But we can take fate into our own vampire hands by Feeding the Living!
How Blood Type and Quality work in V Rising
In V Rising, enemies you can Eat from will have their own selected blood types. Eat an enemy with a certain Type, and you will be given unique buffs geared towards a certain style of play. Extra critical strike chance, reduced ability cooldowns, better resource gathering and Life Leech on-hit are just a few examples of the Blood Type bonuses you'll find.
My personal favorite Type to run so far is bruteespecially at the higher one Blood Quality eaves It's all about keeping you in the fight giving a bunch of attack buffs, health regen and Life Leech in combat which plays nicely into my hyper-aggressive playstyle.
And now that we've mentioned Quality, it's time to explain the fun yet tricky part of Nutrition. Individual enemies with a Type can also spawn with their own randomly generated Blood Quality. We know that different Blood Types will offer different bonuses, but Blood Quality determines how strong those bonuses will be, ranging from 1% to 100%. The higher you go, the better the reward, and the game will happily tell you what specific bonuses you'll get at each level.
remember, Blood Type bonuses do not stack or transfer between Feeds. It's up to you to decide if you're okay with losing a high level bonus for a quick refill, or if you want to double down and pray you find a better Quality enemy soon. you can check an enemy's Blood Type and Quality by looking at their status bar at the top of the screen.
What if you can't Feed something in V Rising?
But what if you're still in the early stages of V Rising, or you're just not near any enemies? Fortunately, there are some options provided to deal with those bleeding emergencies. first, you can stop the passive drain of the Blood Pool by entering a coffin to restwhich is a lifesaver for when you're stuck in a base trying to plan your next move.
The second emergency option involves the Rats you will find everywhere and the Stained Hearts this can be dropped by most enemies. If you're short on Blood, you can consume them in either the inventory tab or link them to your hotbar for quick uses.
Remember that Rats and Tainted Hearts will drop your Blood Quality and change your Blood Type to Weakbut they still will refill the Blood Pool and buy yourself some time.
It might feel like a lot to manage on paper- especially for an open-world survival RPG like V Rising- but Feeding is extremely easy to handle in practice. You will always feed enemies, which means you will always reap some kind of profit at all times. And even if you are unlucky to find high-quality enemies, there are no drawbacks or penalties. Just quench that bloodlust, don't die, and the world will be yours.
