Who is Scar in Wuthering Waves?

Wuthering Waves seriously does effect in the gacha scene, especially for its vibrantly diverse roster of characters on both sides of the battlefield. Among the most interesting villains is a young man named Scar, a powerful adversary who was shown during the game’s closed beta and promotional material. Here’s our handy guide to help answer exactly who Scar is and whether you can play as him in Wuthering Waves.

Scar Lore in Wuthering Waves

Scar is first introduced to the Rover (whether you choose male or female) in the early hours of Wuthering Waves. His personality is reckless and outspoken, and he is dressed in a bright red suit during the first fateful meeting. He embraces his reputation as a “cruel and twisted maniac”, but due to his first meeting with the player, he keeps his cool, with other intentions in mind.

While the conversation takes place, we discover that Scar is a member of the Fractsidusa mysterious organization whose purpose is to introduce the next stage of humanity’s development by having them absorb the Tactful Discords and undergoes brutal transformations. The Lamentgenerally perceived as a gigantic apocalyptic event, is regarded by Scar and the Fractsidus as a “self-regulating system of evolution”, and a golden opportunity for humanity to be reborn and start again, albeit more powerful.

In an attempt to recruit the rover, Scar uses a metaphorical story about a shepherd and his flock of lambs to describe the fate of mankind and how he and the rover are the rebellious “black lambs” destined to change that fate. Even though the rover rebuffs his attempts to indoctrinate, Scar remains dedicated to following them on their journey, with an ulterior motive planned that involves something known as the Threnodian.

While Scar is encountered quite often throughout the story, his character is not currently playable in Wuthering Waves. As disappointing as that may be, hints in his overall character design suggest that he might be playable in the future, regardless of him being a villain. His significant popularity within the Wuthering Waves community alone could see him landing in the list of playable characters. Until then, he’ll just have to remain as one of the funniest antagonists in the game.
