Wuthering Waves Pity System – What is mercy, gentle mercy and more!

Like most of the other gacha games out there, Wuthering Waves players must use a semi-random summon to get new characters. In WuWa, this system is called Convene, and it has a built-in reconciliation system to help you get what you want from your call.

When you buy a summon with Lustrous Tide in Wuthering Waves, you can use it to get a random character, item or weapon in the game. In these types of random games, many have something called a mercy system, which means that the odds of getting the best possible character or item in a gacha draw are not 100% random. Wuthering Waves has a mercy system to prevent players from getting too unlucky.

  • For every 10 draws of the Convene system, you are guaranteed a four-star item or better. The base four-star drop rate in WuWa is six percent, and the average drop rate is 12 percent.
  • Five star weapons and characters have a guarantee after 80 pulls, so you’ll see at least one five-star in every 80 Conventions. The standard drop rate for five stars is just under one percent, and the average drop rate is just under two percent.

When you’re trying to get a specific five-star weapon, you are guaranteed 100% the chosen weapon after 80 pulls, because you choose the weapon you want when a five-star pull happened. Characters, called Resonators in WuWa, are not guaranteed 100% to be the ones you want after 80 pulls; you are just guaranteed one of the possible five-star characters after the 80 Conventions.

For example, if you get a five-star character from the Prevail the Last Night banner, you have a 50% chance that it will be the Jiyan, the header for that particular banner.

The only exception to this 80 draw rule is the Wuthering Waves Spelling of Wonders standard. This permanent banner gives a guarantee after only 50 pulls, which means it has slightly different percentages for Gatherings than the temporary banners will. You are still guaranteed a four star drop after 10 pulls.

  • Four star drop rates for Utterance of Marvels are about 6%.
  • A four-star average drop rate is nearly 12%.
  • Five star drop rates for Utterance of Marvels are slightly less than 1%.
  • Average five-star drop rates are 2.4%.

Gentle mercy is a sloping drop rate as you continue to pull in a Gatcha game. This means that if you, for example, have a 1% drop rate for a five-star on your very first pull, you might have a 1.1% drop rate for a five-star on the second pull if you fail the first. . It means you have a slightly better chance of pulling a five-star the more you pull, and it raises the average drop above the baseline drop.

Does Wuthering Waves have a tender mercy?

Gentle mercy is not confirmed for Wuthering Waves at the moment. Just like Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail and similar titles, there is no official word for soft mercy. The only reason we know about the soft mercy systems for Honkai and Genshin is from fans collecting data and calculating the soft mercy system themselves. Once WuWa’s mercy system is registered and upgraded, we will have more information about the soft mercy or lack thereof.
