Yet another Overwatch 2 goes without a Venture skin

Overwatch 2 fans are left confused as Season 11 ends without a single new skin for Venture, the game’s first trans non-binary hero. Released in Season 10 as the 40th hero, Venture debuted with a modest selection of four rare skins – basically just color changes from the base model.

Despite the appreciation surrounding their addition to the game (because Venture is a lot of fun to play and play against), they remain the only hero in Overwatch history without a Legendary skin at launch.

Since the reveal of Venture’s gameplay and model in November 2023, players have been waiting for a Legendary skin that could harmonize the character with others in the roster. After all, every other hero introduced to the game is launched with a Legendary skin, making the absence of one for Venture even more confusing. In contrast, Mauga, the 39th hero who arrived just two seasons earlier, has already amassed four Legendary skins, with a total of 11 alternative skins to his base skin.

As Season 12 approaches, the skin ads once again leaves Venture fans disappointed. The new season promises a Mythic Anubis Reaper skin inspired by the Egyptian Sun God Ra, along with Legendary skins for heroes like Doomfist, Ana, Ashe, Illari and Sigma. But for Venture? Nothing. Nadda. Zip.

I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed. Wait, actually—

What’s particularly frustrating is that Blizzard went to so much effort to ensure The character of Venture was represented authenticallyworking closely with the LGBT Network and gender non-conforming developers on the team. However, despite the importance of this representation, Venture has been sidelined when it comes to in-game customization, leading many to question Blizzard’s commitment to their inclusion.

I have to wonder if Blizzard is struggling to keep up with the sheer amount of content they put out — and I’m not the only one. Why Season 12 is needed two Mercy skins?

The newest hero, Juno, who will debut in Season 12, is also launched without a Legendary skin. But for Venture, this lack of attention feels particularly glaring. An entire season, “Venture Forth”, was named after them, and yet they remain the only hero without a proper Legendary skin – a distinction that makes their inclusion feel less genuine.

It is over seven months because Venture was first revealed at BlizzCon 2023, and they don’t have a Legendary skin yet. Venture remains on the sidelines, and the community is still waiting for Blizzard to give this hero the attention they deserve.
