Best way to farm Special Zombies in MWZ

With the introduction of Modern Warfare Zombies in Modern Warfare 3, many events and seasonal challenges required the elimination of “special zombies” from within the mode, with various weapon types, and with various methods. Finding them can be a bit of a pain, but fear not, this guide will show you the way.

How to use exfils to farm Special Zombies in MWZ

There are two main ways to farm Special Zombies in MWZ, but we'll cut to the chase and give you the most consistent one. Be aware that this is a little annoying, but if like me you find yourself nearing the end of a season, and need to hit those last few seasonal challenges for the add-ons, conversion tools, or that ever-elusive seasonal cam, then this will see you through. (And wouldn't you know it, we've got a handy dandy guide covering those same seasonal challenges right here!)

Your first step will be getting ready, either in the pre-game lobby, or doing a quick dart around when you're on the field. You'll want at least an uncommon (green) weapon (preferably Pack-A-Punched at least once) because this will make the special zombie kills quick, painless, and it'll help you deal with the plethora of regular zombies you'll face during your grind.

You will then go to any exfil site (preferably in the low threat zone) and call the exfil. This will cause a lot of regular zombies to spawn, so get them back into the ground before they swamp you, and continue.

Eventually, you'll notice that 'Mangler' zombies will appear, and these are exactly what you're looking for. Be careful, they are not to be taken lightly as unlike regular zombies they have a ranged attack that can track you down unless you keep moving and stay on your toes – so it's important to make sure your weapon of choice is up to date enough as they has some pretty big health pools, and plenty of armor to boot.

You should get an average of two to three Mangler spawns on each exfil attempt, but you can get lucky, or unlucky, and get anywhere from four, to just one. Once your exfil helicopter arrives, just don't get on board (or do if you're all wrapped up) and wait until the exfil becomes available again.

Be careful not to run out of time, because each MWZ match has about 45 minutes before the storm on the map starts to spread, but don't worry, you have a handy timer in the upper left, and you'll get plenty of notifications.

How to use Infested Forts to farm Special Zombies in MWZ

Another way to farm special zombie kills is to look for 'infected stronghold' locations on the map. These are randomly selected at the start of each match, so they won't be in the same places every time. In these, there is a chance for a special “Mimic” type zombie, but be careful, as the name implies that these clever madmen enjoy spending their time dressed as loot boxes, so watch your step.

It's also worth bearing in mind that infested fortresses have a gas cloud inside them, and without a gas mask, you'll take constant damage while inside – this gas will deplete when you destroy all the “pustules” inside, which are very large. yellow spots of ghastly and hideous scattered about. The perk-a-cola 'Death Perception' will give them a visible outline, which makes them easier to find.

Another thing to consider is that if another player has already cleared that fortress, and already killed the impersonator, they need some time to reset and recover, and not every fortress contains an impersonator, so this method is better for those of you. and about playing normally, and wanting to catch those special zombie eliminations around.

Something to avoid when farming for Special Zombies

There is one way consistently finding special zombies, though it will not count such as special zombie eliminations. If you see and take “Bounty” contracts around the map, a special zombie is guaranteed to be your elimination target, but for whatever reason, they are not considered special zombies to complete challenges.

Bounty contracts are a great way to earn pollution points, and some useful tools like weapon upgrades, boons and tower chips, so they shouldn't be ignored, but if you're just looking for special zombies, they won't be of much use to you unfortunately.
