Cities Skylines 2 is getting one step closer to a fix with an economy reboot
Paradox Interactive will address Cities Skylines 2’s economy in an upcoming patch by completely reworking it. While the main focus of the patch will be the economy rework, it has also improved other elements, such as the building upgrade system.
The economy in Cities Skylines 2 has been quite unbalanced since the game’s launch. Performance issues were also prevalent, but most of these have been fixed (though not fully). Problems with production not generating enough revenue, certain services and industries not needing resources to generate revenue, exports and imports broken, and more, basically made the game’s economy a bit of a mess. The next patch is bound to fix one or more of these problems judging by a new post about the upcoming patch from the developers on the Paradox forum. The main purpose of the patch is to deal with the economic issues as well as the importance of managing it and how players’ choices affect it.
According to the developers Colossal Order, the implementation of the economy re-work is done and the patch is currently ”polished”. They also said that the patch will not address all issues, but they will ensure that the community’s expectations are met. Colossal Order said the patch is expected to be released between June 3 and June 19, with more details about it coming soon.
Alongside the game’s economic rework, the patch will also improve the building upgrade system. Due to this economy patch, the Creator Packs are delayed and will be released after summer. The next patch will also be available after summer, which will include a bunch of free content.
It looks like a step in the right direction for Cities: Skylines 2 with this economic update. Once the economy is viable and balanced, the game will hopefully feel significantly improved over its launch state.
