Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone have finally been added to Xbox Game Pass with the recent Season 5 update. Gamers have long waited to see Call of Duty games in the subscription model, but that may have resulted in an increase in the number of cheaters now that the game is more easily accessible.
The community reported a massive increase in pirate encounters after the big update. Ricochet (Call of Duty’s anti-cheat system) is still in place, but apparently third-party software seems to bypass it easily. Additionally, we can speculate that cheaters who were previously permanently banned from the game are now using a different client (Xbox App) to log in and play MW3 on their computers.
User CongratsMate commented on the Reddit post above that they had cheaters in their lobby all night. The hacker had an account level below 50 and seemed incredibly good at the game, which is unlikely for a new player. Cheats can use wall hacks to spot enemies through objects and switch aimbot which allows them to hit their shots with 100 percent accuracy without any need to aim the target.
You can see a video example of the cheat in action above from one user who posted a clip of ranked play in Warzone. During his match, a hacker ran loose on Rebirth Island with their Sidewinder Battle Rifle. If you encounter a similar situation, make sure to report the player because multiple flags will force the anti-cheat to block the hacker and even permanently ban them.

Hopefully Activision will acknowledge and start taking action on this issue soon. Recently, a large cheat provider for CoD (Raging Nation) was shut down after a legal notice from the publisher, so this is definitely a step in the right direction. Meanwhile, console players can try turning off cross-play so they don’t match up with PC, potentially reducing the amount of cheaters per session.
