You've probably come across these glowing purple blocks in the ocean and wondered how to get past them to whatever they're hiding. Well, here's how to break the shiny purple blocks in Another Crab's Treasure.
How to break the Umami blocks in Another Crab's Treasure
If you've tried breaking these cubes with every attack, shell, and adaptation you've managed to find and nothing has worked, we're in the same boat. Every time I would discover a new power, I would run straight back to try to break the Umami blocks in The Treasure of Another Crab, but nothing worked.
Of course, that's because I still haven't discovered the most useful secret, Forest Ranger Topoda and his location. He has an adaptation called the Mantis Punch which deals a lot of damage to enemies, but more importantly, can break through the glowing purple blocks infused with Umami power.

Topoda is very easy to miss if you choose to run past the Kazega Village sniper crab every time as i do. However, if you want to fully complete the game, you will need to beat it on the ledge and follow the trail until you reach the secret boss.
After you defeat him, Krill will let him live, leaving Topoda grateful. He will then give you the Mantis Punch adaptation. He will also now be available for adaptive updatesso you can come back anytime and update your adjustments for crystals.
With the power, you can now go through the various areas and destroy the Umami blocks. They usually give you better rewardslike the Old World Whorl that increases your Umami loads.
However, they will also hide more secret bosses. The purple block in Grove actually hides the path to the Consortium, another secret boss. You'll want to beat it too because you'll get a new adaptation called the Tactical Tentacle. This summons an Umami tentacle that copies your attack moves for extra damage.
