How to increase Seller Credits in Starfield

Starfield’s May update brought with it a ship full of new features and improvements for players across all platforms. One highly anticipated feature that brings help to the galaxy’s greatest adventurers is the ability to increase Vendor Credits. It does come with a small string attached though, so it’s also important to know if the adjustment is worth it.

As part of the May update, Starfield players can now adjust the amount of Credits that all vendors have while trying to sell items to them.

How to adjust Seller Credits in Starfield and is it worth it?

To do this, go to the in-game System Menugo to ‘Settings’and then to ‘Play Options’. There will be an option named “Seller Credits” (as seen below), along with a toggle to adjust the amount of Credits Sellers have in the game.

However, there is a small catch to this new feature. If you set the Seller Credits volume to ‘Increased’ or ‘Greatly Increased’will be a percentage decrease in total XP earned in-game (-2% or -4% XP respectively). Vice versa, if you decrease Vendor Credits, this will provide a small XP boost. It’s not unique to just this feature, though, as it applies to all of the newly added “survivability” features listed next to it (eg – Carrying Capacity, Cargo Access, Medical Item Heal, etc).

As for how high the increase in Seller Credits is, after changing it to ‘Greatly Increased’, I found that the nearby seller’s wallet increased from 5,000 to 25,000, meaning it has increased fivefold. That alone makes the adjustment incredibly handy for unloading huge amounts of loot from your personal and ship inventories. First of all, it eliminates having to waste time jumping from vendor to vendor all over town.

In addition, it is worth noting that the adjustment only takes effect after a vendor’s weekly inventory has reset. If it’s a vendor you haven’t visited in a while, the effect should be immediate. Otherwise, if you have recently done business with them, you may have to wait a while to see the change.

While the XP deduction may feel like a setback, in hindsight 2-4% isn’t a huge loss. To help make up for it, you can adjust one or more of the other survivability features to where it will be 0% loss if you want. Overall, it adds another layer of customization to your gaming experience.
