PC version of Dragon Age Veilguard has been researched and tested for 210,000 hours

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be in much better shape in terms of features for PC players than its predecessor, according to a new Bioware blog. Anyone who played Dragon Age: Inquisition on the platform will remember its clunky controls and camera, but the longtime developer is working on this return.

For starters, Bioware says it put in 10,000 hours of user research testing just to make sure the controls and UI feel good on both keyboard and mouse as well as controllers (which line up nicely with its Steam Deck verified status). What does this mean? Native support for PS5 DualSense controllers with haptic support, Xbox controller support, and of course keyboard and mouse support. Even more, you can switch between keyboard/mouse and controller mid-game or in menus, and can change your class-specific keys at will and switch between them at will.

If 10,000 hours doesn’t impress you, the studio says it logged another staggering 200,000 hours testing the PC version’s performance and compatibility (I think I’m starting to see why many studios skimp on PC versions).

In addition to a full suite of graphics options (including Raytracing, DLSS 3, highly modified FSR 2.2, XESS, frame generation and NVIDIA Reflex) that reflect in real time as you change them, you can expect Ultra Wide and HDR support and unlimited frame rate. And there is even more to come.

In short, it sounds like everything you could ask for from a PC version; the only thing to do is actually get your hands on it to know for sure.

There’s also the matter of how enjoyable it will be for fans of previous games (which you should catch up with, by the way); if each differed enough from one another, it will be interesting to see where it lands on the spectrum. So far, I’m getting more Inquisition vibes than anything, but it seems like a mix of all three. Whatever the case, it should be a blast for all but the most die-hard CRPG fans.
