Scout Harding is a main protagonist in Dragon Age: The Veilguard and it’s about time

Scout Harding was a prominent NPC in Dragon Age: Inquisition – you could find her at every campsite across Thedas or outside the tavern in Skyhold. Unfortunately, she was not an official love option in Inquisition, although it was possible to flirt with her and build an off-screen relationship.

Everything is changed now. As one of the official companions in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, we will finally be able to choose Lace Harding as a romantic option and enjoy the voice lines and scenes that come with choosing her as our beloved.

All of the romance options in Dragon Age: The Veilguard can be romanced by any Rook that the player creates, alluding to the possibility that all romance options are pansexual; although BioWare has not confirmed the correct sexuality of each companion.

In Dragon Age: Inquisition, players could flirt with Harding whenever conversation options appeared. If you took advantage to do this, she would finally talk about feelings for the Inquisitor and even suggest that they talk about it after Corypheus’ defeat.

The romance was very minimal because she was not a companion in Dragon Age: Inquisition, which meant that players did not experience the same romance scenes that they got when dating some of the companions. Despite her saying that you can discuss your relationship, the option is never available and there is no further development of their relationship in the Trespasser DLC.

Scout Harding was a remarkable and hard-working figure in the Inquisition, so I’m ecstatic to see her as one of the seven commandable companions in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Of any of the NPCs from Dragon Age: Inquisition, she deserves to have more of her story told in the Dragon Age series.

A quick search on Reddit will remind the fandom how popular Harding was among gamers. Her not being an active romance option disappointed a lot of people, so this is a bit of a dream come true for Scout Harding fans.

Part of me wants to date Lace Harding for the nostalgia, but I’m also intrigued by the new companions. I guess this will be another Dragon Age: Inquisition situation where I end up with multiple playables.
